Honored affiliates of the metaloid sounds! After a long period of silence finally an update! Sadly there isnīt much to say, GARSTIG are still “on hold”. Not officially split up, yet not alive we are rowing on the Hades. The thing is: after a long period of quest I havenīt managed to find proper replacements for the former members. If you think you are the right one, you can still contact me. Yet my musical taste has changed over the years, so it remains questionable if there will ever be another GARSTIG release. So, the new material will be quite different from the old stuff and feature “actual” singing (as shown in “Kot und Ruin”). I still have some old stuff that hasnīt been finished, but the future must show if those tracks will be completed or discarded.

July this year I visited our former guitarist Vahid in Iran. Metal is prohibited there, there have been cases where musicians have been commited to prison for playing metal. Nonetheless there are numerous bands there. For lack of venues and for reasons of covertness almost all of them play without a drummer. They release their albums abroad. There is a lot of promising talent in Iran. Sadly none of them is interested in playing Persian music, i.e. with Iranian lyrics and oriental musical influences. They cannot identify with their country, because they are prosecuted there and reflect this attitude in rather occidental music. Extreme metal (particularly Black and Doom) is pretty popular there. I could meet some of the musicians. We made some pictures too, but unfortunately it would be too dangerous to publish them.

Our first CD "Tysk Arkaisk" has now finallly been released. The first edition of 500 features a three-page fold-out booklet incuding all lyrics, four-color print and comes shrink-wrapped. The cover is an old oil-on-wood painting and the CD itself is adorned by a sign, an ancient version of the letter G, the so-called "phoenician gimel". The CD is 5.- Euro.

Second: Our guitarist Vahid, who has been with us since mid 2005 and has played the majority of our gigs with us, will leave us. He has decided to return to the land of his ancestors, Persia. We wish him all the best! At first he will be replaced by Puddy (A-Rise), so there will be no gig cancellations. Permanently, we are looking for a new guitarist and a multi-instrumentalist to complete our line-up. E-mail me for details.

Due to fucking venue problems our gig on november 25th had to be postponed to december 16th. Stay tuned. PS: The official release of our EP "Tysk Arkaisk" has also been postponed to end of december.

On Novemer 25th, 2006 there will be a charity gig for the venue "Kult" in Troisdorf. The line-up lists as follows(early to late): FIENDISH GLOOM (Death Metal), VATRA (Melodic Death Pop??), GARSTIG, A-RISE (Nu Thrash) and SKUM! Our new drummer Erich "Antichrist" Manstein will there play his first gig with GARSTIG. See you!

Furthermore Garstig will be featured on the third edition of the "Rebirth The Metal" compilation, along with well-known names such as DISASTROUS MURMUR and MASTIC SCUM. Yeah!!! The CD will be released about April 2006.
